acute lymphoblastic leukemia b-cell hypodiploid
In the fall of 2018, Clayton was living the life of a typical first grader. He had perfect attendance at school. In fact, he was so proud of never being absent that he was hesitant to tell his parents that one day he wasn’t feeling well.
Doctors at St. Jude diagnosed Clayton with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, b-cell, hypodiploid, a rare form of the disease. Clayton persevered through his treatment, which included CAR T-cell therapy, a tactic that involves engineering a patient’s disease- fighting T-cells to home in on cancer cells and destroy them. The family appreciates all of the St. Jude staff team members whom played a part in Clayton’s recovery.
“St. Jude takes the worry away. When you walk into the hospital, you truly understand what hope really means. Being here is just so hopeful, we have a lot of hope.”

While in treatment, Clayton illustrated a piece of artwork that featured rainbows. For this and many reasons, this candle is inspired by him.
