KAPU /käpō/
The ancient Hawaiian word ‘kapu’ can be translated into English as either ‘forbidden’ or ‘taboo’.
In modern Hawaii, it means “Keep Out” or “No Trespassing,” and is often seen on signs by hikers of the islands.
Kauai is a hiking paradise.
Following their two sold out coffee-table books MOTEL | HOTEL and VIRGIN ISLAND, Todd Sanfield and photographer, Kevin McDermott trekked through this paradise to create their new book, KAPU. It is a collection of breathtaking images in this lush setting. Hiking on secluded jungle trails of Kauai, through spectacular foliage and wondrous lava stone waterfalls, Kevin captures only Todd in gorgeous color and stunning black and white photographs. To juxtapose this lush landscape, Todd and Kevin traveled to Maui and bring life to the barren, seemingly lifelessness of a dormant volcano.
This hardcover book is beautifully printed in Italy with color and rich black and white duotone images on premium paper.
