In late 1948, Bruno Bernard and Marilyn Monroe drove away from Los Angeles to the famed Palm Springs Racquet Club. A highly exclusive, star-studded getaway hotel co-founded by former actor Charlie Farrell in 1934, the Racquet Club catered to movie stars looking to hide out, get in trouble, or both. Bernard took images of Monroe here that would change her career forever. During this stay at the Racquet Club, Bernard introduced Monroe to talent agent Johnny Hyde, who became one of her early great loves and helped launch her career after she had been dropped from every major studio.
